Women’s hair trends aren’t hard to come by. There’s a new cut or color sending TikTok into a frenzy every other week. But men’s hairstyles, well, that’s a different story. We don’t feel the guys get enough love, as far as highlighting hair trends for the male species goes. And there are actually quite a few we can expect to see more of in 2023.
“In the last few years, we saw some pretty out-there styles (i.e. the mullet and the faded mohawk), which creatively, as a barber, has been a lot of fun,” shares Uppercut Deluxe founder Steve Purcell. However, he notes that these styles “might now bring us back to the more timeless” looks because chasing fashion is hard. “It’s just easier to be timeless,” says Purcell. Loose Texture
If you’re looking for the perfect muse for loose texture, Purcell shares the man for the job is Austin Butler. “That kid has damn good hair! He’s a tastemaker, so I’m definitely thinking this staple style will make its comeback again,” he says.

Slambacks
“The classics never die,” Purcell states of the slamback look. Think 1950s but with a more modern twist. All you’ll need is a blow dryer and some pomade (the Deluxe Pomade from Uppercut Deluxe, obvi) and you’re set to create this slicked-back classic style.

Tight Fades
Purcell makes it clear that 2023 is the year “that guys will transition away from growing their hair out” in favor of cleaner styles. The tight fade is one of those looks. Though it can require a little more maintenance to keep the sides clean, it’s definitely worth the upkeep.

Messy Crops
For those who prefer to keep things a little tousled, messy crops are your best bet. A classic French crop still gives some style and structure while leaving room for some disheveled bedhead at the top. Go ahead, live out your Peaky Blinders fantasy.
