Your Guide to The Power Bottom + Styling Attachments

Your Guide to The Power Bottom + Styling Attachments

Written by Ashley Locke

Hot tools are nothing short of abundant these days, and while it isn’t the worst problem to have, too much of anything is, well, too much. Do you find yourself struggling to make space for all the different hot tools you’d need to keep up with the ever-changing trends? Don’t have enough outlets to power up a blow dryer, curling iron, and flat iron to get an at-home blowout? Can you not decide which tools to bring when traveling and find yourself sacrificing on style when you travel? We cannot emphasize how much we’ve struggled with it all, which is why we put our shower thinking caps on and came up with a simplifying solution. Introducing: The Power Bottom.

All you need is one base to power every single styling attachment in our lineup. We’ve got a curling iron, curling wand, and a jumbo waver currently, but there will be plenty more where that came from. And now that we’ve expanded into Sephora (see you online and in-store), this is only the beginning of our plan for world hair care domination.

Read on to learn all about our vers(atile) base and get attached to our attachments!

You’re probably thinking to yourself, “What the heck is so special about The Power Bottom?” Even though it’s on the receiving end of our attachments, it holds all the power…literally. You need someone who can take it like a champ while also taking charge. Yes, we’re still talking about The Power Bottom base…did you think we were talking about something else?

Once you have the base, you can mix and match the attachments with ease to go from beachy waves to bouncy curls in a matter of minutes. Simply pop and lock your chosen top into the bottom and you’re good to go—just don’t forget to turn it off and let it cool before switching your tool.

Temp Check

The Power Bottom features four different heat settings that work for every hair type and texture:

  • 200°F/100°C for fragile, very fine hair
  • 325°F/160°C for fine or thin hair
  • 360°F/180°C for medium hair (P.S. this is the ideal temp for most hair types)
  • 410°F/210°C for coarse, very thick hair
Now that you have your bottom, let’s get into the tops.

1.25” Jumbo Hair Waver Styling Attachment

Remember our award-winning Triple Ripple Jumbo Hair Waver that sold out last year? This is the new and improved version. The 1.25” iron delivers a natural-looking bend, beachy texture, or glam waves depending on your vibe for the day.

If you’re hoping to achieve ultra-defined waves, section your hair vertically and hold the hair waver vertically when clamping. The longer you clamp down, the more defined the waves will be.

For those who want a more organic, natural-looking bend, section your hair horizontally at a 45-degree angle when clamping each section. You can hold the clamp down for a few seconds to ensure the bends don’t veer into glam waves territory.

1” Curling Iron Styling Attachment

Prefer a tool that will deliver tight, bouncy curls? The 1” Curling Iron Styling Attachment is calling your name. The clam allows for more control over styling so you can create ringlets that would put Shirley Temple to shame. Along with the clamp, the ceramic and nano-coated barrel provides smooth, shiny, long-lasting results.

You can even create defined waves, if you feel so inclined. To get the look, begin clamping halfway down the section and roll the hair around the iron. Open the clamp enough to move the iron down a few inches, roll again, and repeat until you reach the ends.

1.25” Curling Wand Styling Attachment

Similar to the iron, this wand also features a ceramic and nano-coated barrel that delivers unbeatable smooth and shine. Because it doesn’t have a clamp, it’s ideal for beginners who are still getting used to curling their hair. Experts will still appreciate this tool as well, especially for the bouncy curls and undone waves it creates.

The key to getting softer waves vs defined curls? It’s all in how you hold the barrel. Hold it down vertically (a.k.a. butts up) for waves and hold it horizontally to wrap your hair around it for the curliest curls. Pro tip: If you alternate the directions you wrap the hair around the wand, you’ll create a more natural look—no one will even know you used a tool to begin with.
