1. Spritz on dry shampoo.

We know dry shampoo is somewhat of a given, but it works. Without fail, you can count on this product to soak up any and all grease lurking in your bangs. It doesn’t take a lot either, just a simple spritz should do the trick. Our favorite dry shampoo for bangs? Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo. This dry shampoo is one of our all time faves because it absorbs oil, sweat, and even odors to keep your hair looking, feeling, and smelling fresh all day long. What more could you ask for?

2. Pin them back.

Don’t feel like fussing over your greasy bangs? You don’t have to. Instead, opt to pin them back. This is one of the easiest ways to prevent your bangs from getting greasy in the first place. Not to mention, there are a number of chic and stylish hair clips you can use to pin back your bangs, no matter their length. While the classic bobby pin will suffice, we suggest leveling up a bit. 3. Try blotting papers.

Blotting papers aren’t only good for combating an oily complexion. Turns out, you can blot them on your strands as well to absorb excess grease. Keep a pack of the tried-and-true Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Facial Sheets in your bag for times when your oil production is out of hand.

4. Use oil-free skincare and makeup products.

It’s not just the oil on your scalp that causes your bangs to become greasy, but also what’s happening on your forehead. If you happen to have an oily complexion, you’ll benefit from utilizing oil-free skincare and makeup products. They’ll keep your face matte, along with your bangs. We suggest switching up your moisturizer first if you’re not currently using an oil-free formula. Differin’s Oil Absorbing Moisturizer With SPF 30 is one of our favorite oil-free skincare products. It’s lightweight, absorbs excess oil, and contains SPF—it’s everything you need.

5. Give translucent powder a go.

Makeup artists swear by this hack to prevent greasy bangs. Simply grab your favorite high-definition translucent powder (ours is e.l.f. Cosmetics High Definition Powder), section out your bangs, and blot the powder onto your roots so it can work some magic. In seconds, your bangs will be grease-free and full of life.

6. Blow dry them.

A quick blast of heat from a blow dryer should aid in getting rid of oil. Though we do want to note that this won’t work if your bangs are excessively greasy. In that case, you might want to try an alternate hack. But if your bangs are just starting to get oily, using a blow dryer like the BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Dryer should stop grease in its tracks.

7. Wash your bangs.

For times when your bangs are incredibly oily and you have a little extra time, why not wash them? You don’t need to step into the shower, using a sink will do the trick. Pin the rest of your hair off your face and let your bangs fall out so you can rinse them with an oil-free shampoo like Kérastase’s Bain Divalent Balancing Shampoo for Greasy Hair.

8. Skip conditioner.

Yep, your bangs don’t need conditioner at all—and conditioning them, especially if they’re oily, will only exacerbate the issue. You can (and should) absolutely still use conditioner on the rest of your hair, but your bangs don’t need it. However, if you feel like your bangs really need conditioning, go with an oil-free option. We’re big fans of Mill Creek Botanicals Sleepy Hollow Oil-Free Conditioner.

9. Keep your hands off.

Don’t want greasy bangs? Don’t touch ’em. All the dirt, oil, and grime on your fingertips can make your greasy bangs even greasier. And who wants to deal with that? Not you. Try your best to keep your hands off. But should you find yourself messing with them too much, pin them back with some generic bobby pins like this pack from Kitsch.
